Important Patient Information
Before your appointment
When calling the office for an appointment, be sure to give us as much information as possible so that we may supply you with proper instructions.
What we need to know:
- When was your last normal menstrual period?
- Have you been examined by a physician?
- Do you have any medical problems such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease?
- Do you have any allergies to medication?
- Are you taking any medication? If so, what and how often?
If you prefer to pay with insurance, please have your insurance card handy when you call.
If possible, please try to make your own appointment; it’s always best to get important information directly from you.
Due to limited space in our waiting room, please ask only one visitor to accompany you.
After your visit:
It is important to leave the facility with your post-operative instructions in hand, as well as any medications or prescriptions given to you.
- After leaving the facility, have something to eat and drink before taking your medications.
- Do not have sexual intercourse, take tub baths, swim, douche, or use tampons for 2 weeks after your surgery. Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting as well. We will provide you with a medical excuse for work or school.
- Remember to expect some bleeding, cramping and breast tenderness after the termination, but if you experience extreme pain, heavy bleeding and clotting, or temperature above 100, please call us at any time, day or night.
- It is important to schedule a post operative appointment with us for two-three weeks after you procedure. You may prefer to see your private doctor or family planning center if this is more convenient. The purpose of the check-up is to determine whether there are any problems, such as infection, and to provide you with a reliable method of contraception.
Remember, you may call us between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM to speak to a counselor or nurse with any questions or concerns you may have.
